Collaboration Artifacts
Discription and Rationale: I chose these artifact to show evidence of my collaboration with not only my cooperative teachers, but all the faculty, staff, and the PTA . During my first placement, I collaborated with my cooperative teacher and her instructional aide on the school's main bulletin board to highlight African American History Month. The request for this bulletin board came from the principal, Mrs. Finley. Student samples from all classrooms were displayed. For my second placement, I have created a slide show of the First Grade Mountaineer March which began with a visit from Major Battle who came to read a book to the first graders. The first graders were "Rockin Readers" and filled out a record for every chapter that they read for two weeks. Finally, the first graders marched through the school and then outside accompanied by Alabama A&M Cheerleaders along with the Hampton Cove Middle Cheerleaders for a Pep Rally.
Rationale: The African American History Month bulletin board project gave me the opportunity to collaborate with not only my cooperative teacher, but her instructional aide and all the teachers in the other grades. We designed, and created the materials for the board. I decorated the board and collected the student samples from each teacher in all grades. This was a whole school effort and a very enjoyable project to put together. We received a lot of compliments on the bulletin board. I was given the giant Sharpie accent marker to use in my future classroom. The First Grade Mountaineer March was a hugh success. The first graders read over one thousand chapters during a two week period. Mayor Battle kicked off the event with a visit to the school and read a book to the first graders. This was a collaborative effort between the PTA and the first grade team including me. These two events were great opportunities for collaboration and a wonderful part of my student teaching experience.
