MY INTERPRETATION
The teacher candidate understands education as a profession, maintains standards of professional conduct, and provides leadership to improve student learning and well-being. The teacher candidate understands the role of the community in education and develops and maintains collaborative relationships with colleagues, parents/guardians, and the community. The teacher candidate should understand that a teacher is a lifelong learner and to always seek out ways to promote personal growth.

Collaboration
- Collaborates with school colleagues, parents, and other members of the larger community.
- Thinks systematically about practice and uses reflection to improve teaching and learning.
- Invites and uses feedback from supervisors and peers; accepts constructive criticism in a positive manner.
- Sets goals for personal and professional growth.
- Participates in professional development activities such as Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI), Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) , faculty meetings, and school and/or university workshops.
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Follows the appropriate dress code.
- Assumes responsibility and accountability for tasks or duties without prompting (i.e., submits documentation such as lesson plans, weekly reports, evaluation forms, etc., as requested).
- Respects students and fellow educators both in and out of the classroom.
- Respects confidentiality of student records, performance, and personal issues.
- Demonstrates care and concern for welfare of students and the school community.
- Abides by federal, state, and local laws and statutes.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, via email, and in writing.
