Welcome!
My name is Caroline Mobley. I am majoring in Elementary Education/Collaborative and will graduate Magna Cum Laude from the University of Alabama in Huntsville on May 7, 2011. I have been married for eighteen years to LTC Kevin D. Mobley and we have two wonderful children. My daughter is fifteen years old, and my son is twelve years old. I was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1979. I graduated from E.B. Erwin High School in 1985.
I decided to become a teacher when I was volunteering and working at my children's elementary school. I have been very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work as an Educational Paraprofessional for three years when my children were in elementary school. It was a joy to have an opportunity to work at the same school where my children were attending. I also loved working with all the students and seeing them grow academically and socially throughout the school year. It was during this time when I had a conversation with a wonderful teacher who encouraged me to become a teacher. This is when I really began thinking more seriously about going to college. I had been out of high school for twenty years and had two children at home. My husband is active duty military so we moved every couple of years. I realized that going back to school at that point in my life was going to be a challenge, but I also thought if I was going to go to college it would be now or never. I can certainly testify to the fact that you are never too old to go back to school! Once I enrolled at Seminole State Community College as a freshman in the summer of 2005, I knew there would be no turning back. I was determined to stay on course until I earned a Bachelor's degree. Going to college to earn a degree has been a six year long process for me. Without the support of my family, I could not have made it this far.
Thank you Kevin, Amanda, and Michael for all your support and understanding! When times were rough and when I thought I would never make it to graduation, your continued encouragement and support kept me going.
