Description and Rationale: I chose these artifacts to show examples of my small group lesson plans for my collaborative placement. I also included a compound activity I created to supplement the lesson. I usually created various activities to supplement my lessons. I used information I gained from the Multiple Intelligences Inventory when creating materials so that I could accommodate the different learning styles of the students. Artifact #1 is the format I followed that was already being used by my cooperative teacher. This is the lesson plan that was sent to the principal each week and is for all grades. Artifact #2 is a sample of my lesson plan "notes" which I created to guide my instruction for each lesson. Artifact #3 is a sample of a lesson plan I created for 2nd grade. I also used this format for my 3rd grade lesson plans. Artifact #4 is an activity I created to supplement a lesson plan. Another activity I created to supplement a lesson is depicted in the pictures above and that is the flash cards. I often made flash cards to use for the week's amazing words.
Reflection: I continued with the lesson plan format that was already being used by my cooperative teacher and the one sent to the principal each week. This lesson plan format did not contain enough information for me so I needed to create lesson plan "notes" I used to guide my instruction. This was a strategy I created to assist with the organization of the lessons. I only used a flip-chart for first grade so the above artifacts are examples of to show evidence of what I did with the other grades. Using different methods to deliver instruction gave me an opportunity to determine if the flip-chart strategy I learned about at my ARI training was effective or not. I compared the two different methods of delivery and I can attest to the fact that the flip-chart is extremely useful for being able to move through a lesson in an organized and timely manner. My small group lessons were thirty minutes long so the flip-chart allowed me to cover all the necessary content and skills in a short period of time.
